Michael Collins has been appointed a new Chief Executive Officer of Salym Petroleum Development N.V. (SPD), a joint venture of Shell and Gazprom Neft. At this position Michael has succeeded Alexey Govzich who had led SPD in 2015-2018 and moved to Gazprom Neft as Executive Technology Director.

Michael Collins, SPD CEO, commented on the announcement: “I’m proud to become a part of SPD team. This team made a tremendous progress over the past years having managed to reverse the trend of falling production and to achieve world-class safety milestones. We will work hard to avoid complacency, continue our journey on a safe production culture, working within our community and sustained delivery. I believe this approach can ensure our dynamic development, sustain our delivery and add value to our shareholders”.

Michael Collins has 20-year experience in Exploration and Production. He held various positions in Shell projects across the globe, including the Netherlands, the Philippines, Norway, Brunei, and Australia. Before SPD Michael was Shell VP Wells Joint Ventures. He is from Australia where he graduated with first class honors as a Mining Engineer from the University of New South Wales.
