SPD held the annual HSSE Forum in Moscow with management teams of the company and its contractors involved in development of the Salym group of oil fields. SPD managers told about SPD’s 2017 performance and about the company’s priorities for the current year. Talking about safety performance Vladislav Lekomtsev, Operations Manager, stressed the fact that the key root causes of incidents were incompliance with safety rules, insufficient level of intervention, risk normalization, and disregard to changing conditions at the worksite. He pointed out that in all similar situations contractor managers must recognize personal responsibility and demonstrate commitment to safety culture.

The key theme of HSSE Forum was development of Joint Improvement Agreements (JIA) between SPD and contractors. JIA discussion was made in groups along the main areas of the services provided by contractors. SPD and contractor managers developed JIAs based on five aspects: Leadership Visits; Personal Safety; Process Safety; Performance; and Assurance.

He told about specific features of team work at sea, internship of cadets from civil nautical schools on the biggest domestic tall ship. “The Krusenstern is a complex technical object the safety of which is ensured by its team, and this is not the only thing makes our areas of activity similar. Mutual understanding, trust, and respect within the team, technical mastery and creativity are the guarantee for our victories,” said Mikhail Novikov.
