Konstantin Karabadzhak has been appointed the new CEO of Salym Petroleum Development N.V. (SPD) – a joint venture of Shell and Gazprom Neft. Konstantin succeeded Michael Collins in this position, who led SPD in 2018 – 2022 and now moved to another position at Shell.

“I am happy to join Salym Petroleum Development team. I am confident that together, we will be able to achieve company’s key strategic goals successfully. Safe operations are still our top priority. We will develop the digital transformation further and also focus on efficiency improvement and ESG issues,” Konstantin Karabadzhak, SPD CEO, noted.

Konstantin Karabadzhak has a lot of experience in managing oil exploration and production companies. Till this appointment, during three and a half years he headed Gazpromneft-Vostok – one of the leaders in the oil and gas industry of the Tomsk Oblast and a recognized expert in producing “hard-to-recover” oil. This venture with three shareholders – Gazprom Neft, Mubadala Petroleum (UAE) and the Russian Direct Investment Fund – has increased its production of hydrocarbons by 25% over the past 3 years and enlarged a share of hard-to-recover oil to 50% of total liquid hydrocarbon production. Before Gazpromneft-Vostok, Konstantin was Vice President for Economics and Finance and a Board Member at Slavneft Oil & Gas Company – a joint venture of Gazprom Neft and Rosneft Oil Company. Konstantin also worked as Engagement Manager and Associate at McKinsey & Company – a leading international management consulting firm.

Konstantin Karabadzhak has a degree in Economics; he also received additional education at Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas, majoring in Oil and Gas Production. Konstantin has an MBA degree from one of the world’s leading business schools – Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University (USA).
